Local CasinosNeighborhood: Nothing Specific
Pleasanton, CA 94566
United States of America
Recently, more and more gaming houses and Indian Casinos have been developed in Northern California. For the card player or the slot machine enthusiast, this is good news. However, it is important to know where you are going and what to expect. This article will review several local casinos all within approximately two hours from Pleasanton, CA, which is approximately one hour east of San Francisco, CA.
Perhaps the most popular casino in Northern, CA is Cache Creek. Located in Brooks, CA, Cache Creek is modeled as a true resort. Aside from a card room with close to twenty tables, there is a high rollers gaming area, table games ranging from craps and roulette, to pai gow and black jack with affordable $5 minimum bets during most parts of the day. When you are not at the tables, you can dine at the steakhouse, C2, or one of the other delis, sports bars, Chinese restaurants etc.
As well, there is a beautifully kept hotel, golf course, spa, and several shops to keep you busy. Cache Creek also is known for featuring relatively well known entertainers such as comedian Charlie Murphy. It is the closest to a Las Vegas experience as you can find in California. The prices can be a bit high for accommodations
For those who are still 18 but are ready to play, Jackson Rancheria, located in Jackson, CA is a great option. Jackson features 9 poker tables, 1500 slot and video poker machines as well as a range of table games. The amenities and dining options are not as lavish as Cache Creek, but it is a fine alternative when looking for something a little more low key with fewer age restrictions thanks to the 18 year age minimum (due to no alcohol on the casino floor), opposed to the average 21 and up requirements of other casinos. At just under $300 per night for a suite, Jackson is affordable to stay at, but close enough to drive there and back while still getting a full day of fun in.
Located in the beautiful Sonoma Valley Wine Country, more specifically at the Dry Creek Rancheria of the Pomo Indians in Geyserville, River Rock Casino is a growing and exciting location to play. With 1300 slot machines, video keno, progressive jackpots and numerous table games, River Rock is a growing area attraction. Just north of Pleasanton by a little under two hours, it is accessible and easy to find. While the gaming area is fine and well done, there is no hotel, and there are limited dining options. Although there are numerous inns and hotels in the area, this casino is best kept as a fun day trip.
Much like Cache Creek, Black Oak Casino is a fun and a bit more upscale with regards to its gaming area. Located in Tuolumne, CA, perhaps just over two hours from the East Bay Area, Black Oak Casino features over 164,000 square feet with slot machines, video machines, table games, poker tables, gift shops, an arcade for those not yet old enough to gamble, and four restaurants with five bars.
There is no on site hotel, and the location makes it difficult to get there and back in one day without the day getting quite long, but it is still worth it when you want to change things up, especially if they have an entertainment act that interests you.
If you're looking to stay a little closer to home, there is always the San Pablo Lytton Casino located in San Pablo, CA. This casino has over 1,300 gaming machines with various jackpots. Unfortunately, poker tables have been eliminated from the casino, but there is still plenty of fun to be had.
Finally, on First Street in Livermore, CA, is the Livermore Casino. It is small, and a bit limited, but for a familiar and safe atmosphere, it can't be beat. Featuring Texas Hold 'Em, Omaha HiLo, Panguigne, Blackjack, Three Card Poker and Fortune Pai Gow.
The food is good and affordable, and the staff is friendly and knowledgeable.
In the future, when you are looking for a good day of gaming and entertainment, any of these establishments would be a fine choice.
